Following Tottenham’s 4-0 demolition of nine-man Liverpool, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has praised his Croatian midfielder Luka Modric for a dominant display. Modric opened the scoring with a sensational strike from outside the box, and despite previous statements that Modric was suffering mentally from being denied a transfer in the summer, Redknapp now says the player is fine. "Luka is fine now, he's just getting on with it," said Redknapp, according to Sky Sports. "I think the chairman will sit down with him now and discuss his contract. That's what I'd like to happen. "It was a great strike today. That's why we were offered £40 million because he's a top player." Redknapp also had praise for new season-long loan signing Emmanuel Adebayor, with the Togolese striker scoring a brace against the Reds. "He has been flying in training," Redknapp added. "You think he's going to run out of petrol but he doesn't. He trains like someone's wound him up. "He always has a smile on his face. Let's hope it continues." The resounding result for Spurs at White Hart Lane is the North Londoners’ second successive victory in the Premier League, but they face a tough ask this week when they face Stoke away in the League Cup. |
