Melbourne Victory were held to a scoreless draw by Sydney FC in the opening round of the A-League season. Harry Kewell and Brett Emerton made their debuts for their respective clubs, and featured prominently throughout the contest. Kewell was one of the best players on the park, going close to capping off the perfect debut for the club on a number of occasions. “I feel great after 90 minutes. I was a little bit tired towards the end, but it was a tough and furious game,” Kewell told Fox Sports. “It was exactly what I asked for. Now I’m just looking forward to the next game.” On the game itself, the marquee signing was disappointed to draw against their 10-man opponents, and he feels that the result could easily have been different. He added: “I thought we created a lot more chances than they did. “It is very disappointing. We didn’t want a draw to start the season, but we have to bounce back next week.” |
