Valencia have reached an agreement with Bankia to resume work on the Nou Mestalla. Construction on the new stadium first begun in 2007 but the work was forced to stop after two years due to the club's precarious financial positions. Los Che president Manuel Llorente described the deal as a 'landmark agreement' and gave official statements "Valencia Football Club has reached an agreement with Bankia to resume work on the new stadium, with an estimated period of two years until completion." "With this agreement, the club also ensures a medium-term financing at market conditions and adjusted to their current income levels." Much credit should also go to the Valencia boss Unai Emery under whose guidance the club managed successive third-place finishes in the league and develop many world-class players. The stadium would include modern facilities and a hike in capacity from 45,000 to 75,000 seats.
