Melbourne Heart have confirmed that assistant coach Ante Milicic will leave the club to take on a role with the new club based in Western Sydney. Milicic was one of two candidates for the top job at the Heart, alongside close friend John Aloisi, following the departure of the club's inaugural coach John van 't Schip. Despite affirming his desire to remain with the club in the long run, the now former assistant of the Heart has decided to move one. Chief Executive Officers Scott Munn paid tribute to Milicic for his efforts over the past two years, and wished him well in the next chapter of his coaching career. “Ante had a substantial role in the establishment of our playing roster and implementation of the playing style and philosophy which is now our trademark,” Munn explained. “While obviously disappointed to see Ante leave, we understand the significance of the opportunity which presented itself in helping establish a team in his home town. “We thank him for his contribution to Melbourne Heart FC and wish him well for the future.”
